"Macy's is requiring all employees to say 'Happy Holidays' instead of 'Merry Christmas' because it could offend atheists. In fact, it's getting so bad that you know that movie called 'Miracle on 34th Street'? They had to change the name to 'Coincidence on 34th Street'.

shoot, i installed my ATI AiW 9800 pro, and powered up my system for the first time in 2 weeks, and it had the same problem! aghh! I think now it's actually my AGP slot that's damaged, which means the motherboard is damaged! what to do? repair or replace? this is not good, not good at all!

First off, I want to say ATI IS THE BEST!!! Not only did they manage to get my card repaired and shipped back to me within a week of receiving it, BUT THEY SENT ME AN NEWER, BETTER UPGRADED CARD!!!! I am now the proud owner of an ATI All-in-Wonder 9800 Pro!! Not 9700, but 9800!
Ok, so now all my college applications and essays are totally done, finished, over, owaru. Over the past 4 months, I have written a total of 30 essays: 7 long, 3 medium essays, and 20 short essays and statements, totalling 5,734 words for 12 different colleges. woow! I'm keeping all my essays for any hopeful juniors, although i'm sure some of them may be considered to be "rejection-quality" lol, i dunno.
pray for my family as we all cope with and make arrangements with the death of my grand-uncle. he wasn't a christian, so it's sort've hard on our entire family since most of us are christians. christmas this year is going to be toned-down a bit.
yea, only one more day until PotO comes out! here's the updated list of movies. I haven't seen a movie yet during the break. Anyone want to join me?

whew. wow, it's been a really busy week. it's been a very emotionally tough week for me. lots of hard stuff going on, a rejection letter, an imminent death, learning that our 3-day "holiday" is postponed til after Christmas, misplacing something expensive AGAIN, pressure with lots of last-minute, pre-holiday school stuff, all topped off with some good fellowship at my youth group's christmas party (which I hope will lessen the effects of the latter). It hasn't been the happiest way to begin "the most wonderful time of the year", but I hope and pray that it'll all improve a bit come Friday afternoon.
until then, i've got a fat AP bio test, a messed-up in class on C&P graded by BAIRD, a Calc test on stuff that I think i know, but fail to understand on the homework, a NU essay that needs to be in by tomorrow or else it's getting submitted uncritiqued-cold-turkey, and oh, did I mention I have to wake up at 6 AM to be at school by 7 to set up chapel, which I'm also going to be running after all my tests? 
as josh puts it, time to bring on the Bawls...
strange that our family has gotten a ton of DVD's lately. me and kevin got dad 1/2 of the first season of an old show called Combat, my dad got the original Star Trek pretty cheap at Costco, i found Mary Poppins on our kitchen counter, and my dad's ordering an old Robin Hood series off the net after Christmas.
ok enough talk. time to work.

It's not so bad not having a computer. It's just that it seems like I've had to work with so many files and install so many programs on the other computers for the past few days. And I'm only on day 3! I figure if my card arrives in NY on Monday the 13th, it'll take 3 days to fix and will be shipped out on the 17th. If ATI is cheap and ships it ground like I was cheap, then it'll take a week, which will bring us up to...ohhh...Christmas Eve (duh duh duh!!!!) 
That's being of course that both ATI and UPS are having a good holiday season and received their bonuses right before they handle my video card.
ADDENUM: I need to know if anyone wants to go to MacWorld with me in January. It'll mean you'll have to take off school and probably pay $20 to register, but if your a senior, none of that should matter.

my computer will be inoperable for the next couple of months because my $300 video card is failing. Everything is a tint of blue, which after a while is followed by the complete distortion and corruption of the contents of my monitor. 
a decommissioned computer means no video editing, graphics editing, flash creation, saved passwords, and hotsyncing.
the only upside to this is i bought a 120 GB external hard drive to save all my important documents. so until probably 2005, I am signing off from my own computer.
